Walt disney world is set to open a new 50 megawatt solar power facility by the end of the year that will be capable of completely powering two parks. To put that in perspective the farm is nearly twice the size of the magic kingdom park. The new solar farm joins the infamous mickey shaped 5mw solar park that disney installed next to its epcot center in 2016 and will provide up to 25 of the power used by disney world.

A recent new york times article showed off the facility which is located within a 270 acre area dedicated to renewable energy just outside of disney s animal kingdom. The soon to open disney world solar facility spread along a 270 acre designated renewable energy area will produce enough energy to supply 10 000 homes annually and will reduce greenhouse gas. The 50 megawatt solar farm features 500 000 panels which is equal to about removing 10 000 cars from the road said renner. It s taken disney a while to build a large scale solar facility but the epcot area is no stranger to solar panels.
