Do You Normally Tip Carpet Cleaners
Tipping should come from generosity and not obligation from anyone.
Do you normally tip carpet cleaners. We had a guy in our old house who was the company owner and we didn t tip him. So it is my opinion that most carpet cleaners do not expect a tip either. There is no problem with not tipping if you ve hired a good company your carpet cleaner is likely making a healthy wage. And in our area at least probably only about half of our customers tip.
Carpet cleaning is a hard job that can be made harder by stained carpets or obstructions. If it s a guy who works for a company and i would use them repeatedly i might tip. When it comes to carpet cleaners there isn t defined tipping etiquette that you should follow. You might want to leave a tip if you received special services such as having your carpet cleaners move a lot of heavy furniture around.
I believe in karma. Tipping carpet cleaners is not a requirement but you can tip them if you feel their service was exceptional and your expectations were exceeded. If you do want to leave a tip for their hard work it ll be appreciated. If you were happy with your complete carpet cleaning experience then tipping seems like a normal step in the process.
The normal 15 20 does not apply here obviously. It probably would depend on the carpet cleaner. There are some cases where you might feel that you should give your carpet cleaner guys a tip such as if they moved a lot of heavy furniture around for you. But if it s a guy who owns the company or franchise which a lot of them do i probably wouldn t.
Although you don t have to tip you can leave 5 10 per carpet cleaning guy for exceptional service. The reality is that most of all customers do not tip at all. But service personnel such as carpet cleaners are paid a salary so that changes the situation. One situation where you shouldn t tip your carpet cleaner is if you know he or she owns the actual carpet cleaning business.
In general tips are not recommended by the great majority of home maintenance service providers of any kind but of course people are generally grateful for extra services that the tech may have provided so it s common that they offer to tip the service person. The standard tip for carpet cleaners is anywhere from 5 20 per person but it s not mandatory and you ll likely surprise whomever you try to slip some money to. I think you under tipped.
