Down Firing Car Sub Into Carpet

Down firing car sub into carpet. I have recently built a center console for a f 350 with 4 8 focal utopia be subs firing down with slot ports firing forward into the dash. Somewhat like metanium above i have had very positive results using a woofer down firing in my car but that s because i have no trunk. Is it worth the time to cut out a small 13 x 13 piece of plywood to sit the subwoofer on to increase bass rather than just have it sitting directly on the carpet. I m really just looking for confirmation that my assumptions are correct.
This trick works not only for wrapping a sub enclosure. Of course every install is different but i would have to question the benefit of down firing when used in a car trunk setup. The floor is carpet on carpet pad on cement foundation. You also have to leave 1 4 to 1 3 of the cones diameter for clearance other wise you will run into cancellation issues.
Since the floors connect to the walls they re also going to shake. Find out in this video. My family room is fairly small 15 x 12 and carpeted. The advantages i saw to down firing was getting the woofer away from my ear the cone was about 15 away when it was direct firing.
And since the shaking directly affects the floor the floor starts shaking. After that the ceiling comes next. How do you get perfect carpet seams when wrapping a subwoofer box with carpet. Thanks for any help.
